Congratulations to Genevieve P who was joint winner at the Mildura Rural City Council’s inaugural Youth Awards on Saturday, April 13th, 2013 in the category of Create! - Recognises young people who have made a significant
contribution to the community through drama, visual arts, technical support,
debating, literacy pursuits or music.
The awards were set up to recognise the important role 12 - 25 year olds play in shaping and enriching our community, the Youth Awards were presented at the Setts Bar and Function Centre on Saturday 13 April 2013.
The event coincides with National Youth Week, which celebrates young people across the country.
Deputy Mayor Ali Cupper presented winners of each of the five award categories on Saturday evening.
“12 - 25 year olds make up about 13 per cent of our local population and often their achievements can go unnoticed,” Cr Cupper said.
“But there are so many great examples of dynamic young people who are making a real difference and these awards are one way we can acknowledge and celebrate them.”
